Corporate Defence & Security Trade press release

The CAE Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre (MPTC), a joint venture of CAE and the Ministry of Finance of Brunei Darussalam, today announced that its new CAE 3000 Series S-92 full-flight simulator (FFS) was certified by the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) to Level D, the highest qualification for flight simulators, and is now ready-for-training.

“This represents yet another significant milestone in the development of the CAE Brunei Multi- Purpose Training Centre and we are pleased to make S-92 training services available to customers in the region to support safe operations and crew readiness,” said Kevin Speed, Vice President – Asia, Defence & Security, CAE and Director of the CAE Brunei MPTC.

The CAE 3000 Series helicopter mission simulator features unprecedented realism for helicopter- specific mission training, including offshore oil and gas, Search and Rescue (SAR), and other types of operations. The simulator enables pilots to practice -- without risk -- challenging procedures such as low-level flight, confined area operations, autorotation and landing on platforms at sea.

The CAE 3000 Series S-92 FFS features core CAE simulation technologies including the CAE True six Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) electric motion system and high-performance vibration platform to replicate vibration cues critical to helicopter pilots; a high-fidelity CAE Medallion-6000 image generator; and a direct projection 210 degree by 80 degree extreme field-of-view dome display system.

The CAE Brunei MPTC facility in Rimba, Brunei Darussalam will be continuing to introduce new training programs over the next year in addition to S-92 training. The CAE Brunei MPTC will also offer flight-training services for S-70i Black Hawk and PC-7 trainer aircraft where the training emphasis will be on safety and mission readiness. In addition, the CAE Brunei MPTC is establishing a comprehensive Emergency Management and Crisis Management Centre of Excellence that will support disaster preparedness for Brunei and other Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN).
