Corporate Trade press release

CAE Mining has delivered a training solution, including two CAE Mining Terra simulators and e-learning courseware, to Fresnillo (LSE:FRES), the world's largest primary silver producer.

"We have been accompanied by CAE Mining in the whole process of designing, developing, building, installing and testing of these simulators. We are very pleased with this project and feeling confident in the CAE Mining - Fresnillo PLC growing commercial relationship," said Mr. Octavio Alvidrez, CEO of Fresnillo PLC."Fresnillo has a vision for applying world-class training to improve safety and productivity and the CAE Terra training system delivers just that. It is a key feature of our new Zacatecas training facility."

"Fresnillo is a world-leading organisation, not only in its operations but also in how it cares for its staff and the communities in which it operates. CAE Mining and Fresnillo worked together on a shared vision for improving safety and productivity," said CAE Mining President Damian McKay. "The solution we have delivered goes beyond the previous industry standard of familiarisation of operators with cabin layout and basic operation. Mining equipment operators deserve the very best technology and training methodologies to ensure their safety. We are very excited to be introducing these methodologies which are based on aviation standards into the mining industry. The turnkey system is based on best practice learning systems developed by CAE for pilot training, including integrated eLearning content, lesson planning tools and brief/debrief functionality to maximize learning effectiveness."

Fresnillo is one of a number of leading companies that are adopting proven aviation and military training technologies to improve mine productivity and safety. The CAE Mining solution includes the industry's highest-fidelity simulation from the only certified Type 7 simulator manufacturer servicing the mining industry. This technology is complemented by a training system that includes integrated e-learning content deployable on PC, Mac and iPad. CAE Mining was able to enhance and tailor the solution to Fresnillo's needs from knowledge gained from supporting Fresnillo in geology and mine planning optimisation projects.

The CAE Terra mining simulators offer a highly realistic training environment. They feature a 270 degree wrap around screen, high-fidelity simulation, and cabins for underground LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) and drilling equipment. The simulators leverage CAE's cutting edge simulation technologies and offer high-fidelity visuals and a six degrees-of-freedom motion system based on the aviation standard. They provide the ability to the instructor to dynamically alter the training scenario leading to improved instructor efficiency. The solution can integrate e-learning or mobile-learning training tools which can be linked with a learning management system in order to track the students' progress. Fully simulated rock dynamics and climatic conditions allow students to train with the real life feel of the equipment interacting with the rock, allowing them to be better prepared for a range of conditions and unpredictable events.
