CAE Healthcare today launched CAE Vimedix 3.2, an advanced software technology that offers improved fidelity, ultrasonography realism, 3D/4D ultrasound and multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) across the entire CAE Vimedix simulation platform.
CAE Vimedix 3.2 enables remote ultrasound learning across multiple disciplines — cardiology, emergency medicine, ICU and Ob/Gyn. With a library of more than 200 pathologies, CAE Vimedix 3.2 delivers new capabilities for virtual lectures, with quick lesson-building, complementary ICCU e-Learning and interactive, hands-on practice using a manikin and ultrasound probes. Transgastric Abdominal Ultrasonography guidelines and training exercises are also included.
“As the portability and corresponding use of ultrasound technology increases, it’s vital for medical professionals to receive the most realistic and advanced training possible to ensure patient safety when providing critical clinical care,” said Heidi Wood, President of CAE Healthcare and Executive Vice President, Business Development & Growth Initiatives for CAE. “CAE Vimedix 3.2 does just that, helping medical students and professionals hone their cognitive and psychomotor skills so they can become proficient for true clinical preparedness.”
With CAE Vimedix 3.2, ultrasound learners and educators experience more realistic 3D/4D scanning and more detailed anatomy for the heart and abdominal organs. MPR imaging provides cross-sectional visualization.
CAE Healthcare collaborated with Dr. Feroze Mahmood, Director of Cardiac Anesthesia at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Professor of Anesthesiology at Harvard Medical School, to develop the 3D/4D and MPR functionality within the CAE Vimedix 3.2 software.
“MPR goes beyond the creation of imaging to embed far more detailed information,” Dr. Mahmood said. “For example, with the 3D/4D MPR functionality of CAE Vimedix 3.2, you can teach very complex topics in a very simple and intuitive manner which enables improved clinical accuracy and precision for treatment."
The CAE Vimedix platform replicates the real-time visual, physical and ergonomic attributes of ultrasound scanning. The CAE Vimedix package includes a laptop equipped with a high-performance graphics card, manikin, simulative probes, software and access to CAE Healthcare’s ICCU e-Learning curricula. Used in 50 countries, CAE Vimedix is available in 10 languages, with plans to add more languages over the next year.
