CAE today announced it is designing and manufacturing a UH-60 Black Hawk full-mission simulator to be used by the Mexican Federal Police.
ACADEMI, a security services company and prime contractor, awarded CAE USA a subcontract in late September 2013. ACADEMI was contracted by the United States Department of Defense Counter Narcoterrorism Program Office (CNTPO) to provide a comprehensive flight training system for UH-60L and UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters provided to the government of Mexico by the United States.
CAE booked the order in its fiscal 2014 second quarter and this is the undisclosed customer referenced in CAE’s press release dated October 9, 2013.
“We are pleased to be working with ACADEMI and the U.S. Department of Defense’s CNTPO to develop a Black Hawk helicopter simulator that will play a key role in the training, preparation and safety of aircrews from the Mexican Federal Police,” said Ray Duquette, President and General Manager, CAE USA.
The CAE 3000 Series UH-60 Black Hawk full-mission simulator will be reconfigurable between the UH-60L variant and latest UH-60M variant, which features an integrated digital cockpit and flight controls, more powerful engines, and other enhancements. The CAE 3000 Series simulator will include the CAE True six degree-of-freedom (DOF) electric motion system and high- performance vibration platform to replicate vibration cues critical to helicopter pilots; a high-fidelity CAE Medallion-6000 visual system; and a direct projection 210 degree by 80 degree extreme field-of-view dome display system. The simulator will be delivered in 2014 to the Mexico Federal Police Command Facility in the Iztapalapa Federal District near Mexico City and be used to maintain aircrew proficiency, provide a realistic synthetic environment for emergency and other training tasks, and support mission rehearsals.
