Aviation Civile Entreprise Communiqué pour la presse spécialisée

CAE (NYSE: CAE; TSX: CAE) announced today that it has received Level D qualification on the world's first simulator for the Boeing 747-8 freighter aircraft. The B747-8 full-flight simulator (FFS), sold to Cargolux Airlines International, an all-cargo airline based in Luxembourg, is already training pilots in the airline's training centre in Luxembourg. The simulator received its EASA Level D qualification from the Direction de l'Aviation Civile (DAC), Luxembourg's national aviation authority. CAE also announced today that it has received Level D qualifications by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of its first two B787 FFSs for undisclosed North American customers.

The B747-8F simulator from CAE is equipped with the advanced Tropos™ 6000 visual system which generates a highly detailed synthetic visual environment. "Our crews greatly benefit from the enhanced realism that CAE developed for the 747-8F simulator," said Richard Forson, Cargolux Interim President and CEO. "Operating the world's first B747-8F Level D simulator is a milestone for Cargolux and enables us to set new benchmarks in crew training, both for our own crews and for our customers' crews," added Marcel Funk, Vice-President and Head of Flight Operations at Cargolux.

"CAE has always thrived on the challenge of prototype aircraft programs. We are proud to continue this tradition with the recent qualifications of our B787 and B747-8 level D simulators," said Nick Leontidis, CAE Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. "Working with our customers and OEMs is always a key factor in our ability to deliver the world's first simulators. To this end, I would like to thank Cargolux for their partnership."
