CAE Bremen Training Centre

Located at the Bremen Airport, Initial Flight Training Deutschland is the gateway of aviation for military pilot training in Germany. CAE GmbH has overall responsibility for the ab initio flight training program providing academic, simulator and live-flying training to more than 40 students annually. A fleet of Diamond DA-40 and CAE-owned DA-42 aircraft are used to fulfil single and multi-engine live-flying training requirements at both the CAE Bremen Training Centre as well as at the CAE training site in Montpellier, France operated by industry partner Airways Aviation. At IFTD, CAE GmbH leverages the established approved training organization (ATO) curriculum as well as onsite CAE instructors.

CAE Sprint Virtual Reality (VR) Training Device

CAE is committed to the design, development, and delivery of advanced training systems to support our customers’ needs. At ILA Berlin, learn how CAE is leveraging digital technologies and big data for student-centric adaptive learning of training tasks, procedure, manoeuvres, and missions. Experience the CAE Sprint Virtual Reality (VR) trainer as a rotary or fixed-wing pilot. The interactive CAE Sprint VR trainer’s enhanced capabilities provide military student pilots with physical controls, supported by a virtual coach and ongoing performance assessment to develop transferrable skills, and master complex flight manoeuvres.

CAE Immersive Maintenance Guide (IMG)

CAE’s Immersive Maintenance Guide is part of our +Tempo line of training products designed to enhance and accelerate maintenance training. It is constructed with detailed and interactive 3D graphics and is delivered either via tablet or in an immersive virtual reality environment through headsets. IMG provides access to the same advanced courseware, which includes current technical order and Interactive Electronic Tech Manuals (IETMS) data. Benefits of IMG include accelerated skills acquisition, built in performance feedback, rapid ingestion of updated technical order data, and reduced need for live assets, among its many other features. IMG brings effective maintenance training at the point of need and was proven on a CV-22 trial to increase student’s overall proficiency and confidence by 42%.

CAE Decision Support Capability

The ability to visualize terrain models and complex scenarios for planning and wargaming is a capability CAE provides via its Augmented Reality (AR) “Sand Table”. Modelling terrain relief and ingress and egress routes in 3D, multiple users view the simulation concurrently. Viewers at the same location use holographic headsets to see the map in a spatially correlated position, can point to objects and use gestures to direct complex maneuvers. In a distributed setup, remote users interface via telepresence over an existing secure network.

Connected to a simulation or operational system to follow actions in real time, or used for brief or debriefing, CAE’s Augmented Reality Sand Table is a powerful tool for planning, assessment, evaluation, and decision support.

CAE e-Series MR Prodigy Visual System

CAE continues to lead the way in immersive training, delivering stunningly realistic graphics via extraordinarily true-to life visual images for the ultimate in high-fidelity training via the CAE Prodigy Image Generator. CAE’s newest Image Generator - CAE Prodigy uses gaming engine technology to create gaming-grade graphics ensuring that critical training is as effective as possible. Complex and interactive synthetic environments supported by cutting-edge content are built using open standards offering flexibility in content, control, and interface.

Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Mission Trainer

The CAE Universal high-fidelity UAS Mission Trainer now includes a VTOL vehicle option, in addition to the current Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) version. Our trainer is platform-agnostic - the simulator can be tailored to simulate any specific UAS aircraft with any sensor payload suite. Leveraging the Open Geospatial Consortium Common Database (OGC CDB) architecture and commercially available technology, CAE’s UAS Mission Trainer is not subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The completely immersive synthetic environment provides capabilities for ab-initio training, basic flight operation, basic payload operation as well as mission planning and mission rehearsal. The UAS Mission Trainer includes typical payloads such as Electro Optic/Infrared/Low Light TV, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), all controlled by a STANAG 4586 compliant Ground Control Station (GCS).
