Civil Aviation Corporate Press release

CAE today announced that it has sold eight full-flight simulators (FFSs) to customers in Australia, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The contracts include the sale of:

  • One Bombardier Challenger 604 simulator to Cobham Aviation Services of Australia
  • One Airbus A320 simulator for Uzbekistan Airways
  • One Boeing 787-9 simulator to Air China
  • One Boeing B737-800W and one Gulfstream 650 FFS to Emirates-CAE Flight Training
  • Two B737NG simulators to Ryanair. CAE also signed a new pilot training services agreement with Ryanair to support the airline's order of 185 Boeing 737-800
  • One Boeing 737NG simulator to an undisclosed airline

The contracts are worth a total of more than C$120 million at list prices, and bring the total number of FFS sales announced in fiscal year 2015 to 31. List prices include the value of OEM aircraft-specific data, parts and equipment (DP&E), normally procured by CAE in the manufacture of its simulators. In the case of these contracts, some customers are providing part of the OEM content.

"Airlines and operators from around the world continue to turn to CAE for their training needs. We are very proud to continue to grow our relationships with Air China, Ryanair and Emirates-CAE Flight Training and to welcome Uzbekistan Airways and Cobham Aviation as new customers," said Nick Leontidis, CAE's Group President, Civil Simulation and Training. "Our customers continue to choose CAE because of our longstanding reputation for customer focus, technological leadership and our ability to deliver quality products on time to meet their operational needs."

Cobham Aviation Services
Cobham Aviation Services, a new CAE customer, has ordered a Bombardier Challenger 604 full-flight simulator. The CAE 7000 Series FFS will be delivered at Cobham's training facility in Australia at the end of 2015. Cobham Aviation Services provides specialist aviation solutions to defence, government and commercial customers under long-term performance-based contracts. The CAE-built simulator will be used to train Cobham's search and rescue pilots. In October 2014, Cobham was awarded a contract from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority for Airborne Search & Rescue. As part of this program, Cobham will acquire, modify, commission and then operate and maintain a fleet of Bombardier Challenger 604 special mission jet aircraft to provide a search and rescue capability over land and at sea.

Uzbekistan Airways
CAE has sold one Airbus A320 full-flight simulator to the flight training centre of Uzbekistan Airways, the largest airline in central Asia. The simulator, a CAE 7000XR Series model, will be delivered at the end of 2015 to train pilots of the airline.

Air China
Air China, a long-time CAE customer, has purchased a Boeing 787-9 full-flight simulator as well as a CAE Simfinity integrated procedures trainer (IPT) from CAE. The simulator and training device will be deployed to the Air China training centre in Beijing in mid-2016. The FFS will include the next generation CAE Tropos-6000XR visual system. Air China has been a CAE customer for two decades and has a fleet of 19 CAE full-flight simulators.

Emirates-CAE Flight Training
Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT), a joint venture between CAE and Emirates airline, ordered two simulators --a Boeing B737-800W and a Gulfstream 650-- as well as as a Gulfstream 650 CAE Simfinity integrated procedures trainer (IPT) and a series of virtual simulators. The two full-flight simulators will be CAE 7000 XR Series models equipped with the latest CAE Tropos-6000 XR visual system. They will be delivered at ECFT's Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) training facility over the next 12 to 18 months. ECFT announced on December 19 the expansion of its DSO facility from five to 10 bays and the addition of new training programs for the Boeing B737-800W and Gulfstream 650.

Ryanair
Ryanair has ordered two B737NG full-flight simulators. They are both CAE 7000XR Series models equipped with CAE Tropos-6000XR visual systems. They will be delivered at the end of 2015 to Ryanair's Stansted Airport training centre in the United Kingdom. Ryanair already operates six CAE full-flight simulators.

CAE has also signed a new training services agreement with Ryanair extending a relationship that has been in place since 2001. The agreement includes the recruitment, selection, and type-rating training of new pilot cadets and experienced Captains for the B737NG aircraft. Training will be conducted at CAE's training centres in Amsterdam, London and Brussels. CAE and Ryanair have trained more than 3,800 pilots to operate on Ryanair aircraft over the last 12 years.
