We are deeply committed to environmental sustainability, integrating innovative strategies to reduce our carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices across all our operations.
Our approach focuses on sustainable growth, ensuring a positive impact on the environment and the communities we serve.
By setting ambitious emission reduction targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), we aim to significantly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
The SBTi has approved the following near-term targets for CAE:
We focus on reducing emissions at the source where we can have the most impact.
Capturing efficiencies and transitioning to renewable energy
Leveraging cutting-edge technology and innovation
Advancing sustainable aviation
Collaborating with suppliers to accelerate our joint progress
On March 30, 2023, CAE was admitted to Renewable Energy 100 (RE100), joining over 400 companies worldwide in their commitment to 100% renewable electricity.
CAE commits to sourcing 100% renewable electricity across its global operations by 2050, with interim targets of 60% by 2030 and 90% by 2040. Currently, facilities under our operational control are sourced by renewable electricity, either through on-site generation or by purchasing Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), where available within market boundaries or from neighbouring markets.
The " CAE Resilient Together" program is designed to mutually reinforce both operational excellence and sustainability with our partners. It sets clear expectations, equips our suppliers to assess and mitigate their risks in collaboration with us, and rewards positive behaviors. Click here for more information.
Partnering for sustainable change
As a member of the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG), CAE helps develop standards and solutions that accelerate the decarbonization progress of the aerospace and defence industry.
Our suppliers participate in Aéro Montréal’s Eco-Responsibility initiative which accompanies participants through an ESG maturity assessment, specific training and support on GHG emissions inventory and the development of a customized eco-responsible path.
Accelerating Quebec's path to decarbonization
Décarbone + is a non-profit organization created by CAE and its partners Hydro-Québec, Energir and Desjardins. It is dedicated to the decarbonization of Quebec, with a focus on Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Its mission is to accelerate the decarbonization efforts of both public and private organizations across the province, democratize decarbonization practices and provide advanced coaching designed for executives, sustainability managers, and operations and maintenance leaders.
Concrete steps for sustainable training operations
In 2022, CAE announced an electric conversion program for our Piper Archer fleet. Partnering with Piper Aircraft, Safran Electrical & Power, and H55, we are developing an electrical conversion kit and training curriculum for the electrified Piper Archer aircraft. This initiative will significantly reduce Scope 1 carbon emissions by reducing aviation fuel consumption.

Fostering sustainable aviation with SAF
To support our business aviation customers' decarbonization journey, we raise awareness about the crucial role of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) within the pilot community. Actionable material is available through our CAE Crew Training app, used by all cadets and pilots trained by CAE.
Proactive climate risk management and reporting
We identify and manage climate-related risks and opportunities, transparently reporting our efforts through the TCFD framework to align with global best practices. Click here for our latest TCFD report.
